(EMAILWIRE.COM, February 14, 2014 ) Portland, Maine -- Do-Be Grill Brush Ready for Challenge
Responding to an article in the Los Angeles Times a couple of weeks ago, Do-Be Products has claimed that its brass grill brush is not a likely culprit as a cause of the rash of injuries reported from ingestion of bristles which become detached from wire grill brushes.
The Times noted that with only about 37 such injuries reported over a period of several years, the risk of such injury is slight compared to other hazards that go along with outdoor grilling, such as the danger of sustaining a serious burn or eating food that is spoiled or carries harmful bacteria. Nevertheless swallowing a metal wire can pose risk of very serious injury, even death.
In response to reports of injuries the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has released images of wire bristle injuries in hopes that casting a spotlight on these cases will make people more aware of the danger.
According to Don Lowry, a spokesman for the Do-Be company, the brass bristles on their wire brush are woven into a twisted metal frame, making it nearly impossible for the bristles to become detached. Lowry stated that, "Although it is highly unlikely that our brush could cause a bristle to get into the grilled food, to be on the safe side the grill should always be wiped down with a damp cloth or paper towel after being scrubbed with the brush. The safety of our customers is always the highest priority for Do-Be Products."
