(Australia-NewsWire.Com, August 20, 2015 ) Melbourne, Victoria -- Tasajee released a new line of microfiber fabric based towels to the market in March 2015. Microfiber towels are highly suited to travel and sports use as the fabric is extremely absorptive, fast-drying, compact and lightweight relative to cotton terry towels.
Microfiber threads are much finer than cotton threads. While microfiber fabric is extremely sturdy in some respects and can be vigorously hand-wrung without causing any damage, in other respects it can be fragile, particularly with regards to heat sensitivity. If microfiber towels are not cared for appropriately, the fabric's absorptive and fast-drying characteristics can be compromised.
Therefore, Tasajee has released a video which goes into detail on how customers can best care for microfiber fabric to ensure that it retains its unique characteristics throughout the life of the towel. The video can be found on YouTube using the keyword search "microfiber towel care". Alternatively, a YouTube search for "Tasajee microfiber" will return all Tasajee videos related to their microfiber towels.
Microfiber threads are not only inherently fine; they are also put through a special process which adds slits around each thread's circumference. This results in ultra-fine polyester filaments being bonded to each thread's polyamide core. As the resulting filaments are typically 100 times finer than a human hair, they can be damaged if exposed to temperatures above 140°F or 60°C. Heat damage can permanently impair the fabric's absorption ability, as well as its fast drying characteristics. Therefore, it is best to avoid ironing microfiber, and air-drying is generally preferable to tumble-drying, although the latter is still acceptable on a very low heat.
Further, whilst microfiber is lint free, it carries a positive charge which attracts lint from other fabrics. So ideally, it is best to wash microfiber towels separately from non-microfiber fabrics, as fine lint from foreign materials can embed within the microfiber which can also compromise its absorptive and fast-drying properties.
When laundering the towels, avoid the use of bleach, ammonia or alkali-based chemicals, as these will degrade the microfiber. Fabric softeners and tumble-dryer sheets should also be avoided, as many softening agents tend to be oil based, and these agents can clog up the fine spaces between the microfiber filaments, impairing the fabric's absorption ability until the oils are next washed out.
Liquid detergents are preferable over powder, as many of the latter contain filler material, and fragments can also embed and remain undissolved in the microfiber.
Microfiber fabric is extremely durable, and if cared for properly, can be washed hundreds of times with little loss of efficiency. Refer to Tasajee's microfiber care video for full details on how best to look after this type of towel.
