(Australia-NewsWire.Com, March 03, 2015 ) Sydney, New South Wales -- The newly formed partnership between Dr. Grant, and The Anchor™ monopods aims to raise local and global awareness of the risks faced by the iconic Australian purebred dog, the Dingo.
Dr. Grant moved to the tropical coast of Australia 15 years ago, and through his veterinary work and beach safari 4WD exploration, regularly comes face to face with these magnificent wild dogs.
"We are so privileged and excited to have Dr. Grant as part of the Anchor Monopod story. He's an absolute legend, and I know the challenges he and the rangers face with human interaction is enormous. We look forward to being able to support the team with this partnership." Stu McLaughlin, Managing Director of The Anchor™ explains.
Close to Dr. Grant's home is the world's largest sand island, the World Heritage listed Fraser Island. The 200 or so dingoes that live there are highly protected as they are considered to be the last genetically pure dingoes in Australia.
"I'm really excited to be working with The Anchor team. Dingoes are wild animals and getting quality shots without disturbing them is a real challenge. With the Anchor I'm able to get down to their level without scaring them. I've already managed to capture some amazing angles - getting unique footage that wasn't possible before. It's been fantastic!" Dr. Grant reveals.
As the Island is entirely formed of sand and layered with thick tropical rainforest, it is only accessible by 4WD, and takes an adventurous character to navigate the island tracking the relatively timid Dingo. Dr. Grant and the Rangers on the island help to protect these precious dogs by closely monitoring their daily activities, breeding cycles and overall disease threats, as well as educating the visitors to the island on how to keep them wild and free.
‘Our Australian Dingo is a true national treasure and I feel hugely privileged to be able to study them on Fraser Island. I just hope through my work with The Anchor team that we can continue showing off this Australian national icon and keeping its profile raised, both locally and internationally."
A selection of stills and video footage from Dr. Grant's recent Dingo encounters on Fraser Island will soon be available on The Anchor™ brand's website, Facebook page and YouTube Channel.
