(Australia-NewsWire.Com, August 13, 2012 ) Perth, Australia -- The much anticipated Hopman Cup in Perth, Western Australia, is set for December of 2012 and besides the newly constructed Perth Arena, which took over a decade to bring from the ground and up, world No. 2 Novak Djokvic will also be the star attraction at the event.
According to a report by craveonline.com, Djokovic along with a number of other tennis stars will be playing in the event ahead of the Australian Open as the Hopman Cup will have mixed teams from various countries around the world.
For the third time running, Djokovic will be paired with word No. 12, Ana Ivanovic, as it will also be the fourth time the former will participating in one of Australia’s biggest sporting events.
"I love the atmosphere - you have lots of great players taking part in the tournament," Djokovic said. "I've reached the finals on two previous occasions so I sincerely hope that now this time, with Ana, we can actually win a trophy."
Making his debut in the Western Australian tournament, upcoming young star Bernard Tomic is ready to put on a show and make his skill level be known to the world, while world No.5 of the women’s ranking, the Australian Sam Stosur, is also believed to be in talks with the event organizers.

For many players, this Australian tournament gives them an opportunity to really flex their muscles ahead of the Australian Open, a mega event in which winning is of dire importance. Being a month apart, it provides the sportsmen enough time to get ahead of the competition.
It was in 2011 that Tomas Berdych and Petra Kvitova took home the title for the Czech Republic, making this year’s event even more intense for the Aussies participating in the event.
